St. Valentine's Day: What's all the fuss about?

February is viewed as the month of love. The climax for a lot of people is Valentine's Day. From my purview, everyday should be Valentine's day! Everyday is an opportunity for us to appreciate the gift of family, friends and loved ones in our lives; to review the relationships and friends we are in. Do we bring "Valentine" values to our friends and family? Such as:

  • Value
  • Appreciation
  • Loyalty
  • Encouragement
  • Nurturing
  • Trustworthiness
  • Inspiration
  • Note worthy
  • Expressiveness
Feel free to substitute my "Valentine" values for what is important to you.

THE WINNING ATTITUDE TO KEEPING DIFFICULT NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

I am about to wade into troubled waters and perhaps rustle them up a bit more. There are many people who have chosen not to make new year resolutions anymore because the statistics about the percentage of people who actually achieve their resolutions is almost depressing.

Truth be told, I think deep down we all make these resolutions whether we call them that, or not. I know that most people do a lot of soul searching at the end of each year. I do. I unconsciously find that I assess how I fared in several areas of my life and try to plan how to do better in the coming year.

So tell me, nearly six weeks into 2016, how are the resolutions going?

A NEW YEAR, NEW BEGINNINGS, NEW POSSIBILITIES......

2016 is here and I want to thank anyone that has ever stopped over at this blog to read or comment for doing so. It means more to me than you can ever know.
So today, I am just thankful for life...Truly, sincerely thankful. And that spirit of gratitude has made my life a whole lot fuller and richer...
Dear God, I am thankful for the goals I achieved, for the ones I started working on, for the ones I forgot about (ouch!), for the ones I remembered, but never got round to starting (despite shifting the timelines again and again); I am thankful!

Thankful!!

It has been a roller coaster kind of year with the good, the bad and the .... (fill the gap).  But hey, I am alive and hopeful about the future and about my dreams! Often times we dwell and focus more on the things we do not have...YET and that denies us of the enjoyment of the things that we do have! I have chosen to have no regrets and to aspire even more!

So, I have had an interesting year and I thank God. Have I achieved all I set out to achieve at the beginning of the year...no, but I still have twenty-nine days left in the year!! So what happens if I am not able to accomplish it all? Nothing.

MEMORIES...

smile is your logo quote

I have always been the smiley type...could be a typical Nigerian thing. In the words of the late music legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, he says Nigerians sometimes are suffering and smiling. With all the economic difficulties and bad news flying around today, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep smiling and I doubt that we have enough psychiatrists and psychologists to cater for the teeming number of people who may actually need counsel.

So what do we do? I suggest that in the words of Jay Danzie above, we all focus on making others feel better after encountering us.
