I have a dream
I find it amazing that children are born without the prejudices and bias that define our interactions as adults. The divisions and divides are just not there for them (at least in the early years of childhood). There is a purity about their connections and interactions that is so uplifting. Put ten children less than seven in one room with toys and watch them unobserved. Friendships and interactions are quickly formed. So where do they learn to draw lines in their interactions?

What do you know about Glaucoma?
Today marks the beginning of the World Glaucoma week!
It is a week set aside to create awareness of an eye disease which is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide.
Glaucoma is a name which is used to refer to a wide spectrum of diseases in which there is damage to the optic nerve., which is the nerve responsible for vision that connects the eye to the brain.
Glaucoma has been classified into various types based on the structure of the eye (open angle or closed eye), age of onset, cause (primary or secondary) and this is a pointer to the fact that this disease is actually a spectrum of diseases.
The presentation or symptoms of glaucoma varies depending on the sub-type of glaucoma . The open angle variety of glaucoma is characteristically symptom-less in its early stages and by the time one notices a drop in vision, the disease is advanced.
It is therefore advocated that EVERYONE should have a comprehensive eye examination annually to detect eye problems especially glaucoma.
Happy Mother's Day!!!
It is that time of the year when we celebrate the women in our lives who have had great influence on us; who have nurtured and moulded us over the years, often making untold sacrifices for us. Some of them are not even family members. They are gifts from heaven sent our way to lift us up in the dark times an to mentor us as we trudge along life's challenges. I have many of them in my life. Some of them are family, most are not. As we appreciate these women today, let us not just utter words, but live a life of genuine appreciation. Let them know they are loved!

St. Valentine's Day: What's all the fuss about?
February is viewed as the month of love. The climax for a lot of people is Valentine's Day. From my purview, everyday should be Valentine's day! Everyday is an opportunity for us to appreciate the gift of family, friends and loved ones in our lives; to review the relationships and friends we are in. Do we bring "Valentine" values to our friends and family? Such as:
- Value
- Appreciation
- Loyalty
- Encouragement
- Nurturing
- Trustworthiness
- Inspiration
- Note worthy
- Expressiveness
Feel free to substitute my "Valentine" values for what is important to you.

THE WINNING ATTITUDE TO KEEPING DIFFICULT NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS
I am about to wade into troubled waters and perhaps rustle them up a bit more. There are many people who have chosen not to make new year resolutions anymore because the statistics about the percentage of people who actually achieve their resolutions is almost depressing.
Truth be told, I think deep down we all make these resolutions whether we call them that, or not. I know that most people do a lot of soul searching at the end of each year. I do. I unconsciously find that I assess how I fared in several areas of my life and try to plan how to do better in the coming year.
So tell me, nearly six weeks into 2016, how are the resolutions going?
